Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 3:629

Hushaym narrated to us, he said: Juwaybir informed us, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn Mas’ud, who said: We did not use to write down any of the hadiths during the time of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, except for the *istikhara* (prayer for guidance) and the *tashahhud*.
