Waki’ narrated to us, he said: ‘Isa al-Khayyat narrated to us, from al-Sha’bi, who said: Abdullah said: Do not recite the Quran rapidly like the rapid recitation of poetry, and do not scatter it like the scattering of inferior dates. Pause at its wonders, and stir the hearts with it.
