Hadith 3:844
Waki’ narrated to us, from Zayd ibn ‘Uthman, from Abu Bakr ibn Musa, who heard it from his father, that a questioner came to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and asked him about the times of prayer, but he did not answer him anything. He said: Then he ordered Bilal, so he performed the iqamah when the dawn broke, and he prayed. Then he ordered him, so he performed the iqamah for the prayer, while the speaker was saying, "The sun has declined," or "It has not declined," and he was more knowledgeable than them. Then he ordered him, so he performed the iqamah for the Asr prayer while the sun was high. Then he ordered him, so he performed the iqamah for the Maghrib prayer when the sun had set. Then he ordered him, so he performed the iqamah for the Isha prayer when the sun had disappeared. He said: Then he prayed the Fajr prayer the next day, while the speaker was saying, "The sun has risen," or "It has not risen," and he was more knowledgeable than them. He prayed the Dhuhr prayer close to the time of the Asr prayer of the previous day. He prayed the Asr prayer while the speaker was saying, "The sun has become red." He prayed the Maghrib prayer before the twilight had disappeared. He prayed the Isha prayer at the first third of the night. Then he said: "Where is the questioner about the time?" [He said:] "The time is between these two times."
