Hadith 3:855

Waki’ narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Aqil, from Jabir, who said: The Dhuhr (noon prayer) is as its name implies. The Asr (afternoon prayer) is while the sun is white and alive. The Maghrib (sunset prayer) is as its name implies; we used to pray the Maghrib with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), then we would return to our homes at the distance of a mile, and we could see the landing spots of arrows. He used to hasten the Isha (night prayer) and sometimes delay it. The Fajr (dawn prayer) is as its name implies, and he used to perform it in the darkness of the early dawn.
