Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Abu al-Ahwas narrated to us, from Abu Ishaq, from al-Bara’ ibn ‘Azib, who said: I prayed with the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, towards Bayt al-Maqdis for sixteen months, until the verse in al-Baqarah was revealed: "And wherever you are, turn your faces towards it." It was revealed after the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, had prayed. A man from the people set out and passed by some people of the Ansar while they were praying, so he told them the news, and they turned their faces towards the House (the Ka'bah).
