Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 1:1059

Ibn Numayr narrated to us, from al-A‘mash, from Isma‘il ibn Raja’, from his father, from al-Bara’, that he would insert his hand into the purification vessel before washing it. Al-A‘mash said: This is a point he considered good.
