Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 1:1078

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Hafs bin Ghiyath narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from 'Amr bin Murrah, from 'Abdullah bin Salamah, from 'Ali, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) used to recite the Qur'an to us in every state, except for the state of major ritual impurity (janabah).
