Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 1:1364

Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, he said: Sharik narrated to us, from Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Aqil, from Ibrahim ibn Muhammad ibn Talha, from his paternal uncle Imran ibn Talha, from Umm Hamna bint Jahsh, that she experienced *istihada* (prolonged vaginal bleeding) during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). She came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I have experienced a severe and strange menstruation." He said to her: "Stuff it with cotton." She said: "It is more severe than that; I am gushing blood." He said: "Use a pad (lit. 'bridle' yourself), and menstruate for six or seven days each month in the knowledge of Allah. Then perform a full bath, and pray and fast for twenty-three or twenty-four days. Delay the Dhuhr prayer and advance the Asr prayer, and perform one bath for both of them. Delay the Maghrib prayer and advance the Isha prayer, and perform one bath for both of them. This is the more beloved of the two matters to me."
