Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 1:1366

Ibn Numayr narrated to us, he said: Isma'il narrated to me, from 'Abd al-Malik ibn 'Abd Allah, that he heard Abu Ja'far saying regarding the woman experiencing *istihada* (prolonged non-menstrual bleeding): "It is only a kick from Satan. If the blood overcomes her, she shall bind herself with a cloth (*istathfarat*), and she shall perform *ghusl* after her period, and perform *wudu* as 'A'isha said."
