Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 1:1519

Ibn ‘Ulayyah narrated to us, from Ibn ‘Awn, who said: I said to al-Qasim ibn Muhammad: "The pond, we come to it, and dogs have lapped from it, and the donkey has drunk from it; do we drink from it?" Ibn ‘Awn said: Or I said: "Do we perform ablution from it?" He looked at me and said: "If one of you comes to the pond, does he wait until he asks: 'Which dog lapped from it, and which donkey drank from this?'"
