Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 1:1662

Ibn Fudayl narrated to us, from Abu Malik al-Ashja'i, from Rib'i, from Hudhayfah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "Its soil has been made a purifier for us when we do not find water," meaning the earth.
