Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 1:1675

Ibn ‘Ulayyah narrated to us, from Habib ibn al-Shahid, that he heard al-Hasan being asked about *tayammum* (dry ablution). He struck the ground with his hands, then wiped his face with them. Then he struck the ground with his hands another time, and wiped his hands up to the elbows with them.
