Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 1:1677

Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from Shaqiq, who said: Abu Musa said to Abdullah, "Did you not hear the statement of Ammar? He said: 'The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sent me for a need, and I became in a state of major ritual impurity (janabah), and I did not find water. So I rolled in the soil just as an animal rolls. Then I came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and mentioned that to him. He said: "It is only sufficient for you to do with your hands like this." Then he struck the ground with his hands one strike, then wiped his left hand over his right, and the backs of his hands, and his face.'" Abdullah said, "Did you not see that Umar was not convinced by the statement of Ammar?"
