Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 1:1826

Waki’ narrated to us, from Mis’ar, from Wasil, from Abu Wa’il, from Hudhayfah, that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) met him while he was in a state of major ritual impurity (junub), so he turned away from him. He (Hudhayfah) then performed ghusl and came back. He (the Prophet) said: "Indeed, the believer does not become impure."
