Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 1:1857

Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, from Waki', from al-A'mash, from Ibrahim, from Hammam, who said: Jarir ibn Abdullah narrated to us, and he performed ablution and wiped over his leather socks. It was said to him, "Do you do this?" He said, "And what would prevent me? I have seen the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, do it." Ibrahim said: The hadith of Jarir used to please us because his conversion to Islam was after the revelation of [Surah] al-Ma'idah.
