Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 1:1937

Hammad ibn Khalid narrated to us, from Mu'awiyah ibn Salih, from Iyad ibn Abdullah al-Qurashi, from Yazid ibn Abi Habib, that Abu Ubaydah ibn al-Jarrah sent Uqbah ibn Amir al-Juhani to Umar ibn al-Khattab with the [news of the] conquest of Damascus. He departed on a Friday and arrived on a Friday. Umar asked him, "When did you depart?" He informed him and said, "I have not taken off my leather socks since I departed." Umar said, "You have done well."
