Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 1:2045

Waki’ narrated to us, from Musa ibn Ubaydah, from al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Rahman al-Madani, who said: Two habits the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) would not entrust to any of his family: he would hand [charity] to the needy with his own hand, and he would place the water for purification at night and cover it.
