Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 1:451

Ibn Mahdi narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Layth, from Tawus, regarding a man who performs ghusl (ritual bath) and a spot remains [unwashed]. He said: "If the water touches it, or he washes it."
