Ibn ‘Ulayyah narrated to us, from Ayyub, from Abu Qilabah, who said: I came to Anas ibn Malik but did not find him. So I sat waiting for him. Then he came, and he was angry. He said: I was with this one—meaning al-Hajjaj—and they ate, then they stood up and prayed without performing ablution. I said: "Did you not use to do this, O Abu Hamzah?" He said: "We did not use to do it."
