Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 1:56

Muhammad ibn Bishr narrated to us, he said: Sa'id ibn Abi 'Aruba narrated to us, from Qatada, from Muslim ibn Yasar, from Humran, who said: 'Uthman called for water, then he performed ablution, then he laughed. He said: "Will you not ask me what I am laughing at?" They said: "O Commander of the Faithful, what made you laugh?" He said: "I saw the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, perform ablution just as I have performed ablution. He rinsed his mouth, inhaled water into his nose, washed his face three times, his hands three times, wiped his head, and the tops of his feet."
