Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 1:658

Ibn al-Mubarak narrated to us, from Yunus, from al-Zuhri, from Abu Salamah, from Aisha, that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), when he wanted to sleep, would perform ablution (wudu), and when he wanted to eat, he would wash his hands—meaning while he was in a state of major ritual impurity (junub).
