Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 1:773

Abu al-Ahwas narrated to us, from Abu Ishaq, from al-Harith, from Ali, who said: Whoever washes his head with ghusl (lotus leaves) while he is in a state of janabah (major ritual impurity), he has indeed fulfilled the washing.
