Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 1:777

Waki’ narrated to us, from Sufyan, from al-A’mash, from Salim and Hafs, from al-A’mash, from Salim, from Sariyah—and Sufyan did not mention Sariyah—he said: Abdullah was asked about the person in a state of major ritual impurity (junub) washing his head with marshmallow (khatmi). He said: "It suffices him, if he washes [it], that he does not repeat [the washing] over his head."
