Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 1:784

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Hafs narrated to us, from al-Ala’ ibn al-Musayyib, from Hammad, from Ibrahim, from Ibn Abbas, regarding the man who performs ghusl (washes) from janabah (major ritual impurity) and sprinkles [water] into his vessel from his washing. He said: There is no harm in it.
