Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 1:820

Ibn Numayr narrated to us, from ‘Abd al-Malik, from ‘Ata’, regarding a man who is afflicted by janabah (major ritual impurity) and then wishes to go out: He said, "He performs his wudu’ (ablution) as he does for prayer."
