'Abd al-A'la narrated to us, from Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri, from Sahl ibn Sa'd, who said: The statement of the Ansar, "Water is from water," was merely a concession at the beginning of Islam. Then, the ritual bath (ghusl) became [obligatory] afterwards.
