Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 35:127

Hatim ibn Isma'il narrated to us, from Ja'far ibn Muhammad, from his father, who said: Ali said: "If the man wishes, he may emancipate his umm walad (slave-mother) and make her emancipation her dowry."
