Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 35:14

Ibn Fudayl narrated to us, from Hajjaj, from Abu Salih, from Ibn Abbas, that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) assigned three shares for the horseman: one share for him and two shares for his horse.
