Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 35:252

Ibn ‘Uyaynah narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, from Sa‘id and Haram ibn Sa‘d, that a she-camel belonging to al-Bara’ ibn ‘Azib entered a garden and caused damage therein. The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, decreed that the protection of properties is upon their owners during the day, and that upon the owners of the livestock is [the liability for] what the livestock damages during the night.
