Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 35:253

Mu'awiyah ibn Hisham narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Abdullah ibn Isa, from al-Zuhri, from Haram ibn Muhayyisah, from al-Bara': That a she-camel belonging to the family of al-Bara' caused damage to something. The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, decreed that the protection of property is upon its owners during the day, and that the owners of livestock are liable for what their livestock damages during the night.
