Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 35:362

Ibn Idris narrated to us, from Layth, from Tawus, from Ibn Umar, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The night prayer is two by two. So if you fear the morning, then perform Witr with one rak'ah."
