Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 35:411

Ibn Numayr narrated to us, from Isra’il, from ‘Amir ibn Shaqiq, from Wa’il, who said: I saw ‘Uthman perform ablution, and he combed his beard three times. Then he said: I saw the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, do it.
