Sufyan ibn Uyaynah narrated to us, from Zayd ibn Aslam, from Ibn Umar, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) entered the mosque of Banu Amr ibn Awf to pray in it. Some men from the Ansar entered upon him, and Suhayb entered with them. I asked Suhayb, "How did the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) act when he was greeted?" He said, "He would gesture with his hand." And he mentioned that Abu Hanifah said, "He does not do that."
