Hadith 35:75

Ibn ‘Uyaynah narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, from ‘Ubayd Allah, from Abu Hurayrah and Zayd ibn Khalid and Shibl, that they were with the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace). A man stood up and said, "I adjure you by Allah, will you not judge between us by the Book of Allah?" His opponent, who was more learned than him, said, "Judge between us by the Book of Allah, and permit me to speak." He (the Prophet) said, "Speak." He said, "My son was a hired servant for this man, and he committed adultery with his wife. I ransomed him from him with one hundred sheep and a servant. I asked men of knowledge, and they informed me that upon my son is one hundred lashes and banishment for a year, and that upon this man’s wife is stoning." The Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said, "By the One in whose hand is my soul, I will surely judge between you by the Book of Allah. The one hundred sheep and the servant are returned to you, and upon your son is one hundred lashes and banishment for a year. And go early, O Unays, to this man’s wife; if she confesses, then stone her."
