Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 13:1339

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Ali bin Mushir narrated to us, from Abd al-Malik, from Ata, from Jabir, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "The person entitled to pre-emption is more deserving of the pre-emption of his neighbor; he waits for it even if he is absent, if their path is one."
