Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 13:1397

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Waki’ narrated to us, he said: Sufyan narrated to us, from Yunus, from al-Hasan. And from Jabir, from al-Sha’bi, they both said: The protected area (harim) of a well is forty cubits.
