Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 13:1478

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Abu Usamah narrated to us, from Hisham ibn Urwah, he said: My father informed me: That some people from Banu Fahm disputed with some people from Banu Sulaym regarding a mine of theirs before Marwan. Marwan ordered Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr to judge between them. The witnesses were equal [in number and standing], so Abdullah cast lots between them and awarded it to the one upon whom the lot fell, because the witnesses were equal.
