Hadith 13:1742
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi narrated to us, from Mu'awiyah ibn Salih, from Rabi'ah ibn Yazid, from Abdullah ibn Amir, who said: I was sitting with Fudalah ibn Ubayd when two men came to him disputing over a hawk. One of them said: "I gifted him my hawk hoping that he would compensate me, but he took my hawk and did not compensate me." The other said to him: "He gifted me his hawk; I did not ask him for it, nor did I solicit it from him." Fudalah said to him: "Return his hawk to him or compensate him for it, for indeed, only women and the worst of people retract their gifts."
