Hadith 13:1885

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Ibn Mahdi narrated to us, from Abu al-Jarrah, he said: Musa ibn Salim narrated to me, he said: When al-Hajjaj exiled the people of the land, a woman came to me with a document. She claimed that the one who emancipated her was her father. This is what Talha ibn Ubayd Allah bought from so-and-so: He bought from him a young woman for a dinar or a dirham, for five hundred dirhams, in good, pure, and excellent currency. He had paid the price to him and emancipated her for the sake of Allah, so no one has any claim over her except the claim of *wala* (patronage). Al-Zubayr ibn al-Awwam, Abdullah ibn Amir, and Ziyad bore witness to it.
