Hadith 13:2003
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Waki’ narrated to us, he said: Hisham ibn ‘Urwah narrated to us, from his father, from Abu Humayd al-Sa’idi, that the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, appointed Ibn al-Lutbiyyah over the charities of Banu Sulaym. When he came, he said: "This is for you, and this was gifted to me." The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, stood and addressed the people. He praised Allah and extolled Him, then said: "What is the matter with men whom we appoint to matters from what Allah has entrusted to us, then one of you comes and says: 'This is for you, and this was gifted to me'? Why does he not sit in the house of his father or the house of his mother until his gift comes to him, if he is truthful?"
