Hadith 13:2016

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Ibn Numayr narrated to us, he said: Hisham bin Sa’d narrated to us, from Zayd bin Aslam, from his father, who said: I heard Umar bin al-Khattab saying: The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, sent something to me, but I returned it. When I came to him, he said: "What compelled you to return what I sent to you?" I said: "O Messenger of Allah, did you not inform us that it is better for you not to take from the people?" He said: "That only applies if you ask the people. As for what comes to you without asking, it is a provision that Allah has provided you."
