Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 13:2481

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, from Ibrahim ibn Sa’d, from Muhammad ibn ‘Ikrimah ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Harith, from Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Labibah, from Sa’id ibn al-Musayyib, from Sa’d, who said: We used to lease land during the time of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) for what was produced on the water-channels of the crops and what was irrigated by water from it. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) forbade us from that and commanded us to lease for gold and silver.
