Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 13:2502

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Ghundar narrated to us, from Shu'bah, from Jabir, from al-Qasim, from Shurayh and Abdullah: They both used to say regarding a man who built in the courtyard of a people without their permission: He has the right to the demolition (of the structure). And if he built with their permission, he has the right to the expenditure (compensation for the cost).
