Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 13:2511

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Abu Khalid al-Ahmar narrated to us, from al-Hajjaj, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Abis, from his father, who said: Hudhayfah bought a she-camel from two men of the Nakha' tribe. He brought them to his house and brought out his purse for them, but they disapproved of him [i.e., they were hesitant or suspicious]. Hudhayfah said: "Yes, by Allah, [it is] from you both. For I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: 'Whoever stipulates a condition upon his companion and he does not fulfill it for him, he is like one who lets down his neighbor to a place with no protection.'"
