Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 13:2668

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Waki’ narrated to us, he said: Jarir ibn Hazim narrated to us, from Ibn Sirin, from Shurayh, who said: A blind man came to him disputing over a slave woman whom he had granted a life-tenancy (*umra*). Shurayh ruled in favor of the one to whom he had granted the life-tenancy. The man said: "You have ruled against me." He (Shurayh) said: "It is not I who have ruled against you, but the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) has ruled: 'Whoever possesses something during his life, it is his during his life and after his death.'"
