Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 13:2721

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Waki’ narrated to us, he said: ‘Ubadah ibn Muslim al-Fazari narrated to us, from Dirham Abu ‘Ubayd al-Muharibi, who said: I saw ‘Ali, and the rain reached him while he was in the marketplace, so he sought shade under the tent of a Persian man. The Persian man began to push him away from his tent, and ‘Ali began to say, "I am only seeking shade from the rain." Then the Persian man was informed afterwards that it was ‘Ali, so he began to strike his own chest.
