Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 13:2762

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Abda narrated to us, from Abd al-Malik, from Ata, from Jabir, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The neighbor is more entitled to the pre-emption (shuf'a) of his neighbor if their path is one. He should wait for him [to decide] regarding it, even if he is absent."
