Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Abu Mu’awiyah narrated to us, from Hajjaj, from Sa’id ibn Zayd ibn ‘Uqbah, from his father, from Samurah, he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever loses property or has property stolen from him, and then finds it in the possession of a man, he is more entitled to it, and the buyer may seek recourse against the seller."
