Hushaym narrated to us, from Isma'il ibn Salim, who said: I heard al-Sha'bi saying: "There is no *khalas* (redemption/indemnity) in anything. Whoever sells a sale, and it is claimed by someone else (i.e., the item is proven to belong to another), the seller owes [only] the price which he took for it; he does not owe more than that."
