Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 13:360

Waki’ narrated to us, he said: Shu’bah narrated to us, from Abu ‘Imran al-Jawni, he said: I heard Jundub al-Bajali saying: We used to go on military expeditions with the companions of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and we would do as they did. We would take from the fruit and eat the dates, and we would move from village to village without sharing with them in their houses.
